SUMMARY:Think Tank: Menstruation and Mental Health and the Importance of Peer-to-Peer Support
DESCRIPTION:Looking after our wellbeing when experiencing challenging symptoms relating to menstruation and menstrual health can be difficult. With so much stigma and taboo surrounding the topic\, in particular at work\, many people suffer in silence and just try to “get on with it”. This often means people place themselves last\, without time to explore the positive impact that mindset and self-care can have. Having tools and approaches to help people understand and manage their mindset\, in a way that is right for us\, is a powerful tool. \nThe theme for Mental Health Awareness Week 2025 is “Community”. In this interactive session\, delivered by our Menstruation Friendly team\, we want to explore the impact of menstruation on our mental health\, the strategies people may find helpful in managing their mindset and practising self-care that’s right for them as individuals and importance of community and peer-to-peer support around menstrual health at work. \nIn this session you will: \n\nExplore some of the mindset challenges people can experience when struggling with menstrual health\nDiscover where negative and intrusive thoughts come from and practical strategies to work with them\nThink about what we can and can’t control and reflect on how to use this to alleviate overwhelm\nExplore and define the self-care that’s right for you\nExplore the meaning of the word “community” and discuss ways of encouraging peer-to-peer support in your organisation\n\nPlease come to the session with ideas and suggestions and things you’ve found have worked well but also any challenges you’re facing so we can explore together. \nRegister for this session by clicking on the link: \nhttps://events.teams.microsoft.com/event/37a140f6-02c3-462e-af6a-e233722e95b6@aaf41ac9-209c-4031-85b3-d85242d882d2
